Almost all of its attacks can be charged, and offer significant damage with every hit. Gilgamesh is fundamentally a revision of the gauntlets in past games, sharing many of the same techniques and focusing on the same slow but hard-hitting combos. The Gilgamesh is obtained at the end of Mission 13: The Devil Returns, after defeating Echidna. Similar to the mask, the back armor, which resembles a pair of small metallic wings, doesn't seem to serve a real purpose during gameplay. Whenever Dante is charging an attack, the mask covers his face, but its real function is never specified (though it seems to be implied that it prevents the user from breathing the gas which comes out of the thrusters during the charging process). The gauntlets have small drills on each arm capable of extending during some attacks, while the greaves have small saws allowing Dante to cut through enemies with kicks. Gilgamesh is an armor-like weapon made of a devilish metal which absorbs organic material and transforms it to steel, and its techniques can be powered up by engaging the thrusters on the gauntlets and greaves. Ebony's ejection port is located on the left side of the weapon, as opposed to the right side (as Ebony is meant to be used left-handed, this causes spent brass to be ejected away from Dante.)īoth weapons have an outside extractor, resembling Browning Hi-Power pistols. Both weapons use ergonomic wood grips which are inlaid with portraits of Victorian women as befits their names, Ebony's is dark-haired, and Ivory's is fair-haired. Ebony features a hooked, two-handed trigger-guard, while Ivory uses a more traditional rounded trigger-guard. Both have gold-plated magazine releases, hammers, safety switches and triggers. Both guns use double-stack magazines with slam-pads. These rails are used to hold the compensators in place. Rails have been bolted to the forward portion of both frames. The result is a slide that bears a resemblance to SIG-Sauer's M1911 line. Both use custom slides that have been noticeably thickened and reinforced along the slide travel rails and around the chamber and firing mechanism. Both barrels are extend through the compensators and are ported to match the cuts in the compensators.
